Pretoria (South Africa), March 27-28 | On March 27 and 28, the director of OIDEL was invited by Pestalozzi Trust to the “Winning the Fight for Freedom of Education” conference, held near Pretoria (South Africa). During the event, he participated in both a lecture and a roundtable discussion.
The lecture focused on the international framework for the protection of the right to education, with particular emphasis on the role of parents and the state. Subsequently, Ignasi Grau took part in a roundtable discussion on the international challenges of educational pluralism, alongside Professor Johannes Cronje and Peter Stock, director of HSLDA Canada. The session was moderated by Christopher Cordeiro.
This conference proved highly valuable for OIDEL, providing insights into the educational challenges in South Africa and the impact of the new education law passed the previous year.
In parallel, OIDEL had the opportunity to meet with the leadership of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) in Johannesburg. This meeting allowed for an exchange on OIDEL’s future projects and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by non-governmental schools in South Africa.
