Tirana (Albania), 21st-22nd of March 2025 | Catholic Schools is the largest non-governmental schools sector in Europe. As it is custom, we have been invited to the ECCE (European Committee for Catholic Education) General Assembly to give an update on educational pluralism on the international scene and to explain how ECCE can play an important role in moving freedom of education forward in the different European nations. In our update, we gave special attention to the new European Parliament Intergroup on Education and Skill and to the policy events in Brussels OIDEL is organizing in the upcoming months.

The event gathers representatives of many different national catholic school networks and thus presents a great opportunity for OIDEL to get a better understanding of Freedom of Education in the national contexts. This understanding is important for OIDEL’s work, as we want to accurately brin the voice of parents and civil society to international discussions.
